Samiran Nundy was a medical undergraduate in Cambridge and Guy's Hospital London and then trained, first in Medicine at the Hammersmith Hospital, and later in Surgery at
Guy's, Addenbrookes Cambridge, the Hammersmith and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He has taught at the Universities of Cambridge, London and Harvard and returned to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1975 where he eventually became Professor and Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He left AIIMS in 1996 and now heads the GI Surgical department in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi.
His clinical and research interests are in the management of complicated diseases of the liver, bowel and pancreas as well as in the quality of Indian medical research and publications. He has been Founder Editor of 'The National Medical Journal of India' and 'Tropical Gastroenterology' and serves on a number of journal Editorial Boards including the 'British Medical Journal'. He has worked closely with NDTV since it started.
