Latest Technique Kidney Transplant Surgery Now Available in India

Dheeraj Bojwani Consultants has launched a “Kidney Transplant Surgery”, this technology is available in just few centers of the world and will be now available in India as well.

Mumbai, India, January 18, 2007 --(- Dheeraj Bojwani Consultants is a medical tourism company of India. They arrange medical trips to India for the health-seeking individual who seeks low cost surgery in India. Dheeraj Bojwani Consultants has launched a “Kidney Transplant Surgery,” the success rates of kidney transplant surgery have improved remarkably, but growing shortages exist in the supply of organs and tissues available for transplantation. Many Americans who need transplants cannot get them because of these shortages. The result: some of these people die while waiting for that "Gift of Life." This technology is available in just few centers of the world and will be now available in India as well.

Patients with kidney failure may be treated with Kidney transplantation. For most patients between six months and 70 years of age, kidney transplantation offers opportunities for greatly improved quality of life compared to dialysis, higher energy levels and greater freedom from restrictive schedules. With a functioning transplanted kidney, recipients must take medications every day to prevent attack from their own immune systems, but otherwise carry on normally with their life as it was before dialysis became necessary.

During the procedure of Kidney transplant surgery the patient will be under general anesthesia throughout the surgery. Once asleep, the transplant surgeon will make an incision on the right or left side of the lower abdomen just above the groin. The surgical team will then place the donor kidney into the abdomen and connect the kidney's blood vessels to the recipient's iliac artery and vein. The surgeons will then connect the ureter to the bladder. A small drain, called a Jackson Pratt, may be placed into the abdominal cavity to drain any excess fluid.

The purpose of a kidney transplant is to implant a healthy kidney into your pelvic area that will assume the function of your damaged kidneys in a kidney transplant, a healthy kidney from another person is put into your body. This one new kidney takes over the work of your two failed kidneys. Usually, the healthy kidneys come from someone who has recently died but did not have kidney injury. This is called deceased donor transplantation. However, a healthy kidney can be taken from a living organ donor who may be a family member or friend. Waiting times for kidney transplantation vary widely. The typical living-donor transplant can take place quickly. Surgery can be scheduled more or less at the donor's convenience - often only a few weeks or months after initial evaluation.
