What diet and exercises are needed after a liver transplant?

Q. I have undergone a liver transplant. Please suggest a diet and some exercises. What things should I avoid?

A. There are generally no dietary restrictions except hygiene of food should be maintained. Avoid cold food and sea food. Raw salads are to be avoided as well. Water should preferably be reverse osmosis. Some dietary restrictions are due to immunosuppression induced raised blood sugars, this happens with tacrolimus. Also get your lipid profile checked because sometimes they are elevated and you may need to cut down fatty food. Contact sport should be avoided. Swimming in India is perhaps not a good idea. Walking, jogging and cycling are perhaps the best.
