Where is liver transplant for a child done in India?

Answered byQ. My 9 months old son is suffering from neonatal jaundice. Further tests show cirrhosis. Doctors say that liver transplant is the only treatment. How much will the liver transplant cost? Can it be done to a 9 month old baby. Is it safe for him? Where is it done in India?
A. It is difficult to give the cost of liver transplantation surgery as it varies from centre to centre. In Delhi it can be done at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Department of Pediatric Surgery: Prof. V Bhatnagar) or at Apollo Hospital (Medical Director and Pediatric Hepatologist: Dr Anupam Sibal) or at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (Contact Gastrointestinal Surgery and Pediatric Surgery: Dr S Nundy/Dr Anurag Krishna).09 December 2005
