Dr. A. S. Soin led the team of doctors at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi in the first 'bloodless' transplant surgery without blood transfusion on four-year old Safi from Pakistan. Safi's uncle Naveed Khan donated a fourth of his liver for the 8-hour operation on April 19,2005. Bloodless surgery is supposed to cause less infection, and faster post-transplant recovery, besides reducing the cost.Via: http://www.4to40.com/recordbook
